The Black Muslim Experience: Past & Present
In celebration of Black History this presentation will discuss the history of Black Muslims in the US, from their earliest presence as explorers, then as enslaved Africans at the very beginning of the founding of this nation, in the colonial period to the contemporary era, as they struggled to hold onto their faith and culture. Hankins will provide an understanding of where Black Muslims fit within the context of African American history and Islam in America.
